On the authority of Ibn-e-Abbas Razi Allah Ta’ala Unho who narrated that the Holy Prophet Sallalaho Alyhe Wasalam has said: “O’ People, Allah has made Hajj Obligatory upon you”. Aqra Bin Habus R.A stood up and asked the Holy Prophet Sallalaho Alyhe Wasalam if Hajj was compulsory every year. The Holy Prophet Sallalaho Alyhe Wasalam replied: “If I say yes, it would be compulsory every year and if it is so, you have not the power to perform it. Therefore Hajj is compulsory once in life. If someone performs it more than once, that is Nafl (supererogatory prayers)”. Ref: Ahmad, Nisai, Darmy and Mishkat.

Hajj means the will to visit the Holy Ka’aba situated at Makkah. Prof. Munawar Hussain, a great research scholar and an eminent educationist wrote in his article “History of KABATULLAH SHARIF”: “It was the need of the time that human beings residing on the floor of the earth should also have a qibla. Right from Prophet Adam Alyhe Salam to Prophet Moosa Alyhe Salam Kabatullah remained the qibla”.

The Holy Ka’aba is situated at the centre of the earth. About 7000 years ago, Prophet Adam Alyhe Salam built the first sanctuary to worship Allah. That house was raised to Heaven during Naoh’s Deluge. By the command of Allah, Prophet Ibrahim Alyhe Salam rebuilt it about 4500 years ago.

The Holy city of Makkah has been made a place of peace, security and safety for the whole humanity since ever. Even the Arabs of Pre-Islamic period maintained the sanctity of this city. They never fight, abuse or harm anyone within the limits of this city. This first House of Allah is full of blessings and signs of Allah Almighty

On the very day, when the Holy Prophet conquered Makkah, he said: “Allah awarded this city with dignity and honour since the day He created skies and earth. It will remain a place of honour and esteem till Doomsday. Fighting or quarrelling is not lawful here”, (Bukhari and Muslim).

Prophet Moses Alyhe Salam also performed Hajj of this first House of Allah as is narrated in the books of Hadis. Hazrat Ibn-e-Abbas Razi Allah Ta’ala Unho has told that if people abandon performing Hajj, the sky would fall on the earth. Our Holy Prophet Sallalaho Alyhe Wasalam once said that Hazrat Ibrahim Alyhe Salam had made Makkah as Haram and I made Madina as Haram.

After the Naoh’s Deluge, there was only a dune at the place of Ka’aba. It was a deserted and uninhabited place. Prophet Ibrahim Alyhe Salam left his wife Hajra Alyhe Salam and his son Ismail Alyhe Salam there. He gave them little dates and a skin–bag of water. When he started walking back, Hajra Alyhe Salam said, “O’ Friend of Allah, where are you going leaving us alone?” listening no reply, she said, “To whom, have you entrusted us?” Prophet Ibrahim Alyhe Salam said: “To Allah according to the orders of Allah”. “Hazrat Hajra Alyhe Salam said: “Go ahead, then, Allah will not ruin as”.

When Hazrat Ibrahim Alyhe Salam was far away, he prayed looking towards that Holy place: “O’ the God of all the worlds, I have left my family in an uninhabited woods besides your chosen House so that they may offer prayers. Divert the hearts of the people towards it. Bless them with fruits as livelihood.”

When the supply of food and water finished, the baby started weeping, because of thirst and hunger. She climbed on the hills of Safa and Marwa several times in search of water. Then she heard a voice. The angel Gabriel was standing near the baby and a spring of water was flowing beneath the feet of the baby.
